"Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that," Perry said. "My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that." - Rick Perry, Governor of Texas

It wasn’t quite the firing on Fort Sumter that launched the Civil War. But on April 1, your Georgia Senate did threaten by a vote of 43-1 to secede from and even disband the United States. About 300 people turned out for a 2005 secession convention in the Statehouse, and plans for a second one are in the works. I'd have to say a lot of people seem to agree with part or all of that last statement. I hope bullhorns are enough to get the message across to those who are running our future off a cliff. Because if it isn't, there are going to be a lot of people scratching their heads and saying "OK, we tea partied... now what?" God help us all if we end up there.
