Based on this, it appears Obama is running for something more than President of the U.S. If he thinks getting a lot of Germans to turn out for his rally will influence Americans to vote for him, I sincerely hope he's wrong. After all, they turned out in large numbers for another politician who was originally dismissed as a lightweight but in the end didn't exactly do the world any good.
Now, I'm not saying Obama has delusions of Fuehrer-dom... but there is the fact a lot of his advisors and fellow travelers seem to support mandatory universal "volunteer" national service. (What an example of political logic.)
Only those who believe in the State uber alles believe it has a prior claim to a 2-3 year period of your most valuable possession--your life--regardless of your priorities. This is the mark of soft totalitarianism, not freedom.
