Getting a little obvious, aren't they?

As mentioned before, I have no intention of voting for either McCain or Obama. But even so, I can note the difference between the indifference of the media for one of them, and the fawning adoration and favors they shower on the other.

Sometimes I think we ought to just scrap the whole election season, and have each candidate write a 750-word essay, printed in all the major papers, on their philosophy of governance and any specific agenda they espouse. Then, in November, we'd hold a telethon where every candidate gets 15 uninterrupted minutes to make their case. The election would be held the next day.

It would certainly take a lot of the irrelevant dogfighting, image management and media manipulation out of the process. Oh, wait... that's all the public pays attention to, anyhow. Silly me.
