As mentioned before, I have no intention of voting for either McCain or Obama.  But even so, I can note the difference between the indifference of the media for one of them, and the fawning adoration and favors they shower on the other.
Sometimes I think we ought to just scrap the whole election season, and have each candidate write a 750-word essay, printed in all the major papers, on their philosophy of governance and any specific agenda they espouse.  Then, in November, we'd hold a telethon where every candidate gets 15 uninterrupted minutes to make their case.  The election would be held the next day.
It would certainly take a lot of the irrelevant dogfighting, image management and media manipulation out of the process.  Oh, wait... that's all the public pays attention to, anyhow.  Silly me.
