God or genetics?

The Declaration of Independence reflects the crucial belief "all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights..."

Why crucial? Because people are NOT "equal" in terms of physical ability, talents, and appearance. Despite the dreams of egalitarians, the gene pool does not uniformly distribute its favors. Thus, without a Creator whose image we faintly carry, the worth of a person becomes utilitarian, not transcendent. And mankind has nasty habits when it comes to our relations with those we deem 'subhuman,' or even merely inferior.

So many people view God as a distant, rigid authoritarian. But the imago dei and the cross alone bring individual dignity. Thus, God's rule is more colorblind and egalitarian than any human society can ever be. Eliminate His influence, and the temptation to 'improve the species' simply becomes too great.

Side note-- this paragraph made me say once again "none so blind as those who will not see:"
Though few of the bits of human genetic code that vary between individuals have yet to be tied to physical or behavioral traits, scientists have found that roughly 10 percent of them are more common in certain continental groups and can be used to distinguish people of different races. They say that studying the differences, which arose during the tens of thousands of years that human populations evolved on separate continents after their ancestors dispersed from humanity’s birthplace in East Africa, is crucial to mapping the genetic basis for disease.
Yes, genetic differences are linked to the human diaspora across the planet... from the mountains of Ararat. We ARE one big quarreling family: that of Adam, through Noah. And that explains a great many things.
...for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3: 27-29
