Ready, aim, fire...

...continuing today's flaming theme:
A recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran has pushed a broad spectrum of officials in Washington to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime, FOX News confirmed Tuesday...

The Germans voiced concern about the damaging effects any further sanctions on Iran would have on the German economy — and also, according to diplomats from other countries, gave the distinct impression that they would privately welcome, while publicly protesting, an American bombing campaign against Iran's nuclear facilities...

Political and military officers, as well as weapons of mass destruction specialists at the State Department, are now advising Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice that the diplomatic approach favored by Burns has failed and the administration must actively prepare for military intervention of some kind.
And as an extra added bonus, there's talk North Korea may be implementing its divestiture of nuclear arms... by selling them to Iran and Syria. Lovely. Some seem almost enamored with the prospect of Armageddon. Idiots. Instead, I think I'll settle for the ancient Christian plea: "even so, come Lord Jesus."

What happens if you start a war just prior to an election?

1) if you're able to run again, you benefit from the tendency not to "change horses in mid stream."

2) If your two terms are up, you just hand your successor a mess.
