When we get these priorities straight, it's amazing how much falls into place. Each of us has been given a piece of the puzzle by our Creator, and He's charged us with its care. Even when the overall picture seems out of whack, we can ensure our small part is in place. My greatest effect on this world will never be through politics or debate, as important as those can be. It will be in the way I live, and whether I'm able to pass along my faith to my children and to those around me. When we place a wrongful emphasis on lower priorities, we risk doing far more harm than good.
We've made life complicated and stressful. God didn't create it that way. His expectations are simple and clear, which is why even while admitting the cost of following Christ can be high, He could say "my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8When we get this right, however fleeting those moments can be, the rest of our priorities are easy by comparison.
