Sound and fury...

...signifying nothing.  That's what the past three weeks have been in Congress.  Full props to the handful of representatives trying to sound the alarm on the budget and on Obamacare.  Shame on the Republican Party for yet again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.  I mean, really... just as the country began realizing how petulant the Administration was being over the whole thing, you cave?

As others have said, no wonder the GOP is known as the 'stupid party.'

So, here we are... worse than before.  Why, you ask?  Well, for starters, the socialization of medicine in the U.S. continues apace.  A pace glacially slowed by the incompetent preparations and ridiculously inadequate computer infrastructure.  But it does continue.

On top of that, however, Congress managed to give itself a blank check for the next three months.  That's right: not only did they kick the can on the continuing resolution and the 'debt ceiling' until February, they actually removed any limit to the ceiling between now and then!  In theory, there is nothing to keep D.C. from doubling or even tripling the national debt before Valentine's Day (hey, florist: how much would 17 trillion black roses cost?).

One of the more annoying results of all this is to read about graybeards like Senator John "Bomb, bomb Iran" McCain lecturing the "Tea Party" representatives on what they should have learned out of all this.  "This isn't how Washington works," the Old Guard Gang says.  And that's the problem... Washington doesn't work... for us.

At least the President finally said something I can relate to.  At his victory lap press event following Speaker Boehner's Quisling moment, POTUS pointed out that it's easier to change policy by winning elections.

Fair enough, Mr. President.

NO INCUMBENTS for 2014/2016!
