The rule of law(lessness)

There is a vast and growing chasm between how we've been taught our society should work, and the current reality.  To wit:

- In this 'land of opportunity,' industry and hard work are supposed to be the keys to success.  But now, government bails out failing corporations, then assumes their management and makes things worse.  At the same time, the police are shutting down kids' lemonade stands... guess they didn't make the right political contributions...

- The "War on Drugs:"  still "important" enough apparently to justify paramilitary home raids that violate the Bill of Rights on multiple levels and demonstrably endanger the innocent... but not important enough to purchase a couple hundred dollars' worth of computer memory to maintain files to prosecute a rogue doctor who wrote illegal prescriptions...

- You can bilk investors of more than $1 billion and not face prosecution... of course, it helps if you have close ties to the White House...

- A century ago: "any kid can grow up to be President."  Today: "anyone can be sloppy on their taxes and still become Treasury Secretary."  (Warning: don't try this at home, kids!)

- For all the hue and cry about saving the housing market and 'preserving the American Dream of home ownership,' government still claims the right to evict you if they have "a better idea" for the location and you have the audacity to refuse to sell...

- When a deranged leftist shoots a Democratic congresswoman, it's somehow proof conservatives are violent people.  When a leftist shoots a security guard outside a conservative organization's offices, it's... well, suddenly not that important to draw connections between political rhetoric and the actions of individuals.

Truth?  Justice?  The American Way?
"Oh, Superman, where are you now... when everything's gone wrong somehow..."
