"...the greatest of these is Love"

Special wishes today to my parents, who are celebrating 46 years of marriage:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

I've always appreciated the fact that when I married the Musketeers' Mom, we had an additional cake at the reception honoring her grandparents for their 50th anniversary.  And her parents fulfilled the pledge of "till death do we part," with her mother caring for her father as he battled cancer the last two years of his life.  Such commitment seems sadly out of favor in this day of "if I don't like it, I leave."

My bride and I are approaching 19 years, and I'm noting more comments lately to the effect of "wow... such a long time."  I shudder to think where our society is if such a short time makes us exceptional.  God willing, we've only just begun!

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad -- thanks for your love and example.

Thanks for the special wishes, Son. A large part of the reward from these 46 years is watching you and your sister as you both "build" strong marriages, setting the example for YOUR children. Love never fails!
