A free society

The words 'liberty' and 'freedom' are frequently bandied about... but rarely defined. If your property can be taken and handed to someone else, are you free? If your opinions, however obnoxious they might be, can draw official sanction, does the First Amendment mean anything today? If the president, on his own, can launch the nation by degrees into war, is there any restraint on those in power? If more people are now employed by the government than nearly any other function in society, is it possible we're just a tad over-controlled?

At least there are some who still have a vision of what freedom looks like.
