This 'n' that

Just some random musings...

US issues terrorist warning for citizens worldwide: "The State Department Monday issued an updated warning on the "continuing threat of terrorist actions" for US citizens worldwide, and a second advisory cautioning travel to Britain. "Current information suggests that Al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks against US interests in multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East," said the advisory.
So does that raise the threat level to Magenta or Mauve? But I suppose this update isn't a complete waste of time and money. Now at least I know there are no threats to U.S. citizens in Antarctica. Small favors...
PAC wants money back: "The National Republican Trust spent nearly $100,000 last year to help Scott Brown win the U.S. Senate seat of the late Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, but now the conservative political group wishes it had that money back to help kick Mr. Brown out of office. Saying the Republican senator is no different from a Democrat, the head of the group is calling for Mr. Brown to donate to charity or disgorge campaign money equal to how much the trust spent supporting him during the 2010 campaign."
Wow... a candidate who campaigned as a conservative then votes like a liberal. I think that must be unprecedented. Would love to see a requirement of "buyers' remorse" refunding of campaign contributions, though. Doesn't that fall under False Advertising laws or something?
Mother arrested for allegedly killing her two kids for 'being mouthy.'
It's a heartbreaking story at the link, so no snark here. I have to note, though, had she killed her kids in a place like this, before they ever had a chance to say a word or draw a breath, the authorities and far too many citizens wouldn't have thought twice about it. What have we become?
