A little perspective

Every four years we hear "this is the most important election EV-er!" But despite the turmoil of the past few decades, nothing compares to the impact of the presidential election held 150 years ago today...

God forbid we ever become that regionally polarized again. But if we do (and recent years aren't promising in this respect), may we have the sense to follow the example of Czechoslovakia and part amiably, than wrestle over which faction will lord it over the other.
