Unfinished business

As the Federal fiscal year winds down, Congress prepares to adjourn to head home and try to spin their behavior to the rubes in order to get a return ticket to D.C. Meanwhile, the budget still isn't passed and once again, the government will operate for an indefinite period on a stopgap "continuing resolution."

Really, people. This whole budget thing is job #1. As in Article 1, section 8 of that document you don't like to be reminded of. Seems today all we get from Congress is the "section 8" part.

The budget should be passed well before October 1 each year, or they should forfeit their pay and allowances for the entire year. (Hint: if you don't take the entire month of August off each year, it might help...) Failing that, Congress shouldn't be permitted to leave town until the budget's passed, whenever that turns out to be.

"But..." they'll reply. "We have to go talk to our constituents. We might... might lose the election if we stay here in October."

Got to go with grandpa on this one...
