In the inevitable pre-election poll frenzy, it appears the Republicans are now 'favored' by a 10-point margin on a generic ballot matchup. Once again, the public appears poised to lurch back from Tweedledee to Tweedledum. Obama's team does have this much right: does it make sense to 'turn the car back over to the folks who drove it off the road in the first place?' Of course, the problems go back much further than the "W" era, and both parties are to blame.
I'm watching with interest some of the developments on the State level, where the establishment Republicans are getting something of a bloodied nose from the base they've jilted for so long. Probably too little, too late, though... especially as the establishment does its best to co-opt the Tea Party momentum.
For those having trouble discerning the 'true' conservative candidates, here's a clue: if they complain about the federal deficit while continuing to pour (borrowed Chinese) money into overseas wars without end, they're not conservatives.
I suspect in November, America will once again prove it's insane.
