Today's the 30th anniversary of the Mount St. Helens eruption.
Scientists have now spent three decades up close and personal with volcanic processes, with front-row seats to the aftermath of catastrophe.
For those 'with ears to hear,' another message can be heard as well... one disputing many of the cherished assumptions of geology and how our world came to look the way it does.
