A powerful choice

A Canadian official responds to criticism about his travel to the U.S. for better health care than he could have had at home:
"This was my heart, my choice and my health," Williams said late Monday from his condominium in Sarasota, Fla.

"I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics."

I wonder how many Canadians wonder where and when they signed away their right to get the best possible health care for themselves. Not every Canadian can simply hop across the border to make up for the local system's shortfalls.

Something to think about as Obama doubles down on the attempt to nationalize U.S. health care. The U.S. can't afford to go that route. After all, where would the rich and famous come for their health care if our system becomes no better than the one they inflict on their own serfs?
