Peace and thankfulness

With the economy in free fall, acts of terror around the world and what appears to be further escalation of the war in Afghanistan, many may wonder this year what there is to be thankful for. For all my frequent carping about how far we have fallen as a nation, I try to remember we could (and may yet) have conditions that are far, far worse. Today is not a day to let 'perfection be the enemy of the good.' In between striving for betterment, it's good to sometimes pause and be mindful of what you already have.

From family to Christian fellowship that spans many places, I have much to be thankful for. Praise be to God, who is always more gracious than any of us deserve. His Love and Mercy endure forever. Happy Thanksgiving to all as we prepare to celebrate the season of Christ's birth.
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-7
