Synchronicity

Courtesy of some friends, I was reading this article in a back issue of Answers Magazine earlier this week.

If you think the earth was a quiet place after the Flood receded, read on. The rock layers speak of a violent period after the Flood, lasting many centuries, when catastrophes continued to reshape the earth. Not surprisingly, it took a long time for the earth to recover from the shock of the Flood, which ripped apart the planet’s surface and cycled rocks throughout the mantle.

So I was mildly amused to read this headline today:

Volcanic Eruptions Caused Ancient Warming And Cooling

Volcanic eruptions were responsible for a deadly ice age 450 million years ago, as well as - in an ironic twist - a period of global warming that preceded it, a new study finds.

There are similar outlines of the past in these two publications -- a period of violent catastrophism that reshaped the Earth's climate more than once. The difference is that one publication is using this data to promote the supposed role of carbon in climate change--and, by extention, the need to regulate Man's use of carbon fuels. The other publication sees a link to the scriptural record of the Flood, and a world quickly and dramatically rebooted by its Creator.

As Mr. Spock would have said: "fascinating..."
