Is it just me...

... or is it getting chilly in here?
For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures. And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise. So what on Earth is going on?
Personally, I like to think God's having a laugh at the expense of those who've been promoting (and profiting from) the whole Man-Made Global Warming schtick. At this point, those die-hards who refuse to consider any other models for climatology (solar variations, etc) are not defending science so much as they are a faith. After all, science is supposed to be about testing hypotheses through observation and experimentation. We can't "experiment" with the climate, but we can certainly observe:

Western Montana breaks cold records
US West blanketed by snow, cold; baseball playoff postponed
Record cold, snowfall hit area
Chilly weather follows record early snowfall

But there are none so blind as those who will not see. Meanwhile, there are those who probably see, but want to pull the wool over others' eyes for their own purposes. (The last five paragraphs of this story tell you all you need to know about how confident these so-called 'experts' are in their ability to withstand scrutiny.)

Yes, let's kick the petroleum habit if we can. Yes, let's be responsible stewards of the environment. But let's stop pretending we "know" enough about how climatology works to sound a global alarm to scare/force people to make radical changes. This isn't about prevention. It's about power.
