King George is laughing...

...at the way America now tolerates far worse from its own government than it ever did under the British Crown. There's a reason only the preamble to the Declaration of Independence is well known or taught. The rest of the document is a list of grievances -- a case, if you will, carefully laid out as to why the colonists were justified to "institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

Even a cursory reading of that list shows it's as much or more applicable today than it was in 1776...

One example from the list:
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

Americans of the 1700s wanted to be left alone to solve their own problems. Americans today want somebody else to take responsibility for them. These are incompatible worldviews, and the latter is the harbinger of the death of freedom. "Oh say, does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?"
