Isn't that generous?

I'm so glad things are in such good shape here at home we can afford such gestures:
The United States is preparing to donate more than $900 million for the reconstruction of Gaza, a U.S. official said Monday, as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton prepared to attend a donors conference for the war-ravaged territory next week.
If one were to do an analysis of the return-on-investment we get from all this foreign aid to Israel, Gaza, Egypt and the lot, I suspect we'd find all that money would serve us better if we piled it in a heap and burned it to keep warm in the winter.

If we're going to run trillion-dollar deficits for a while, the least we can do is keep every single dollar at home. Doesn't make a lot of sense to go further into debt while handing out money to people who don't seem to appreciate it.
