Keeping a distance

We really appreciated the movie Fireproof, so naturally we have it on DVD now that it's out. It seems, though, the distributor found it necessary to declare--in no less than four languages--that the movie did "not necessarily" express their views.

Considering the uplifting, edifying content of the movie, I find that legal disavowal more than a little puzzling. Does this mean they believe without that disclaimer we should assume the movie does represent their views? What, then, does that mean about those who distribute, say, Friday the 13th, Part 9 Gazillion? That they endorse homicidal mania?

Why is society and its media so afraid to appear even remotely in sympathy with a biblical worldview, but so eager to embrace worldviews of horror, cynicism, self-centeredness and death?

Just wondering...
