Maybe we can hope history constructively repeats itself on occasion.
The desire for low or no taxes is only a fiscal disaster when coupled with an unreasonable expectation of the government taking care of every little thing. As I've long said, if you want to reign in Leviathan's fire, get rid of the fuel: money. Government exists to protect, not to provide. Those who expect it to provide should expect it also to demand. Maybe when people realize the cost, they'll start taking care of themselves and stop looking to others to nanny them. That would be a revolution in itself. Sounds like it has a chance in Massachusetts. Good luck to them. And to think they used to call it "Taxachusetts."
On Election Day, Massachusetts will vote on whether to eliminate its state income tax. Advocates hope victory in a place long thought of as a free-spending liberal bastion will pave the way for similar initiatives in other states over the next few years. Critics insist a yes vote would lead to fiscal disaster.
Now--about repealing that stupid 16th Amendment to the Constitution...
