Plainly reading the Constitution

Here is a decent discussion of yesterday's Supreme Court ruling in the Heller case. Although the Court properly recognized the right of citizens to keep and bear arms for self-defense, it should not be forgotten the Framers intended that self-defense capability to exist not just against the common thug in the neighborhood, but against would-be tyrants in office as well. Having just fought a Revolution for liberty, it's inconceivable the Founders would have tolerated the idea of a government monopoly on force.
