Huh?

Someone I haven't worked much with happened to stop by my desk today.

"Nice family," they said, looking at the photos on display. Naturally, I said 'thanks.'

"Big family," they said, looking at the Three Musketeers. I had no idea what to say to that.

When did three kids begin meaning a "big family?" Just wondering...
