Prometo allegience a la bandera...

Multiculturalism strikes again...
At about 10 a.m. Friday, students and parents gathered in the gym for an assembly commemorating Diez y Seis de Septiembre, Sept. 16, when Mexico celebrates its independence from Spain. The school’s bilingual classes from different grade levels performed songs, Williams said. Everyone was given a small Mexican flag and a group of six or seven parents recited the pledge from a script, Williams said. The students did not recite it, he said.

“My students don’t even know the Mexican pledge,” Williams said. “In the minds of my little kids here at the elementary school ... they were simply holding a flag.”
Yes...holding a flag of a foreign nation, watching adults pledge allegience to that banner. The kids didn't HAVE to say a word--the message was received loud and clear. It's one thing to note for children that other countries may have such a pledge, just as we do. There was no need to enact a ceremony to honor a foreign flag.
Williams said he was “devastated” that the parent who objected to the program called a radio show rather than approaching him with her concern.

“I would have graciously visited with that parent and explained on-site what the intent was,” he said. “I would have been open — I still remain open — to the parent or the parents that were in attendance for the presentation on Sept. 15, to explain.”
Yes, he's 'devastated' that someone called his program to public account. If only the parent had kept the dirty laundry within the school system, where it could have been properly ignored while the indoctrination of little minds continues apace. Now he'll have to waste time with messy P.R. to lull everyone back to sleep. Darnit.

School officials don't like a lot of public scrutiny. Instead of in loco parentis, they assume they're the real parents, and families just provide boarding. Don't question them...they're professionals, don't you know.

I've chosen to teach Spanish to my Musketeers (simple practicality), but the only pledge they know is to the Stars and Stripes, and even that one is being imbued with a healthy ability to question what is done in the name of that symbol.
