But remember, security is IMPORTANT!

Ever since 9/11, airline travelers have become accustomed to running a security gauntlet to reach their planes, including the occasional grope or two. The average citizen has acquiesced as Uncle Sam demanded access to everything from library records to the creation of a national ID (though they refuse to call it that). Anyone who raises an eyebrow to any proposed measure is quickly reminded: we're at WAR, don't you know? This is IMPORTANT stuff, now get with the program!

So what to make of a woman trying to enter a Congressional office without going through the metal detector? One would expect an alert security guard to stop the intruder and determine what was going on.

And in doing so, one wouldn't expect him to be struck by an irate member of Congress, who neglected to wear her "fast pass" congressional ID pin, but still refused to just get in line to be scanned like some common American.

Even more amazing...after her public admission of the events of the day, a grand jury has refused to indict her for striking a federal officer. Something about the case being 'racially charged.' (Nope...not going there...)

So, to sum up: if you're a member of Congress, you can refuse to comply with subpoenas, and you can smack any federal agent who inconveniences you, even in the name of security. But the other 299,000,000 Americans better not get similar thoughts in their heads. Heaven forbid they all start demanding the same treatment.

Still think these people are public servants?
